Thunderbird departing?

by Antony

ThunderbirdSillyDog701 member Richard Mitnick informed us that Thunderbird may be dropped by Mozilla Corporation.

Mozilla Corp and Mozilla Foundation focus more on Firefox project rather than Thunderbird, and will continue to be this way. Thunderbird needs a new home to survive.

Mitchell Baker laid out three possible fates for Thunderbird:

  1. create a new non-profit organisation (similar to the Mozilla Foundation) to focus on the Thunderbird;
  2. build a new subsidiary of the foundation just for Thunderbird;
  3. making Thunderbird as a community-only project, this is similar to SeaMonkey project.
