Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 available

by Antony

Mozilla Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 has been announced by the lead Mozilla Thunderbird developer Scott "mscott" MacGregor, and it is available for download. Like the Deer Park Alpha 1 preview of Firefox 1.1 released earlier this week, Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 is intended for developers and testers only.

Major new features in Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 include a phishing detector, an improved spell checker, support for removing attachments from received messages, enhanced RSS/Atom feed functionality and a better user interface. The Rumbling Edge has a work-in-progress Thunderbird 1.1 changelog highlighting the new features and notable bug fixes to expect in the final release of Thunderbird 1.1, which is scheduled for the end of July.
