The Mozilla App Suite continues.

The Mozilla (Seamonkey) Application Suite will not be scrapped!

Fantastic news for all those Mozilla users (myself included) that've been hoping that the Mozilla App-Suite aka SeaMonkey (upon which Netscape 7.x/6.x was built) will not be dropped in favour of the standalone web browser and e-mail client applications, codenamed as Mozilla Firebird and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Work will still continue on the standalone apps, but since the death of Netscape as a browser maker, and the creation of the Mozilla Foundation last summer, the roadmap that would have signalled the eventual end of the Mozilla App-Suite being the main focus of development, in favour of the standalone apps, is now undergoing a rewrite, and should be published (hopefully) by the end of this month.

(Re-post from DJGM's post on Message Centre)

Former Netscape employee, Brendan Eich has announced that the Mozilla Development Roadmap is to recieve an overhaul to reflect the fact that the main focus of development has returned to SeaMonkey, and also how Mozilla.org is preparing for the journey to the next landmark milestone, Mozilla 2.0

More here in this article at Mozillazine, and Brendan Eich's post on the official Mozilla newsgroups.

Dunno 'bout you, but this news has made my day . . . as if you hadn't noticed!
