October 13, 2004 marks the tenth anniversary of the release of Mosaic Netscape 0.9 Beta, the first publicly available version of the Netscape browser. C|Net has a section devoted to articles related to Netscape's legacy and this event.

Over the course of ten years, the Netscape browser has undergone extensive development, and changing circumstances in regard to market share, influence, and corporate control of the division. Two of today's technologically-leading web browsers, Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox, can be traced directly to Netscape.

Happy 10thA Netscape Version Guide and Timeline is available on SillyDog701, and all Netscape browser releases are available in our Netscape Browser Archive.
