Netscape 9.0 finally released

by Antony

Netscape 9.0Netscape has finally released Netscape 9.0 final after almost 9 months since it first announced in late January. Originally designed to be tightly integrated with (then) Netscape.com social news site. The social news integration was withdrawn last month when Netscape announced to return back to the good old news patrol.

Netscape Navigator 9, as they preferred to be called, although based on latest Firefox 2, it has a number of unique features added into it, including URL Correction, Link Pad, Sidebar Mini Browser, Resizeable Textarea, Tab History, Tab History, Throbber and Combined Stop/Reload button. The release of Netscape 9 based on Firefox 2.0.0.7 also means the cross-platform availability (unlike Netscape 8 was available for Windows only), also means the first time Netscape browser is available in Universal Binary (on Mac OS X platform).

Netscape Navigator 9 can be downloaded from Netscape Browser Archive.
