Mozilla 1.7.3, Firefox 1.0PR, Thunderbird 0.8 released.

Screenshot of Firefox 1.0 PRNo fewer than three new versions of Mozilla software were released today.

One of these, Mozilla 1.7.3, is another maintenance update in the venerable Mozilla 1.7.x application suite series, in this case dealing with security.

Another, Mozilla Firefox 1.0 Preview Release (with the internal version number 0.10), builds and improves on Mozilla 0.9.3, the last version, with a host of new features and bug fixes. Among these are the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds in bookmarks, the Find bar, a split pane view in the Bookmarks menu, the capability to create a "Master Password," more reliable presentation of site icons, and better system integration for GNOME users. The extensions system now will not automatically install software from sites other than update.mozilla.org.

Finally, version 0.8 of the Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail and newsgroup client has been released. Some new features in this release include a global inbox, data migration features from other software, a built-in RSS reader, improved privacy controls, and improved search. A note in the corresponding documentation warns not to install the software into "a directory containing program files from a previous version."
