Firefox 2.0 released

Firefox 2.0After months of testing, The Mozilla Corporation has finally released the shipping version of Firefox 2. Firefox 2 is Mozilla Corporation's next generation Firefox browser. It is now available to public. SillyDog701 Moderator DJGM noted the availability of Firefox 2.0 on FTP server 2 days ago.

Almost two years ago, Mozilla Foundation released Firefox 1.0 on 9th November 2004, a year after, Firefox 1.5 was released (29th November 2006). Firefox 1.5.0.7 was released on 15 September 2006, Firefox 2.0 RC 3 was released on 17 October 2006.

Firefox 2.0 requires:

  • on Mac
    PowerPC G3 or greater, 128 MB of RAM, 75 MB of free disk space, Mac OS X 10.2.x or later
  • on Windows
    233 MHz or greater, 64 MB of RAM, 50 MB of free disk space, Microsoft Windows 98 or later
  • on Linux
    233 MHz or greater, 64 MB of RAM, 50 MB of free disk space, Linux kernel 2.2.14 (with glibc 2.3.2, XFree86-3.3.6, gtk+2.0, fontconfig/xft and libstdc++5) or later
