AOL to end Netscape in February 2008

by Antony

NetscapeSillyDog701 member MJR informed us that AOL will officially end Netscape web browser on 1st February 2008. Posted in The Netscape Blog:

AOL's focus on transitioning to an ad-supported web business leaves little room for the size of investment needed to get the Netscape browser to a point many of its fans expect it to be. Given AOL's current business focus and the success the Mozilla Foundation has had in developing critically-acclaimed products, we feel it's the right time to end development of Netscape branded browsers, hand the reins fully to Mozilla and encourage Netscape users to adopt Firefox.

SillyDog701's Netscape Browser Archive started at the end of browser war, been through the downhill of Netscape. We were here when Netscape came back from long inactivity, not just once. Netscape Browser Archive will still be here after 1st February 2008, and we will maintain a Netscape browser support section in our forum.
