Netscape 8.0.1 released

Netscape 8.0.1Within in one day, Netscape has upgraded Netscape 8.0 to Netscape 8.0.1. Netscape has released the final version of its Netscape 8 Web browser. The browser can use either Internet Explorer or Firefox rendering engine to guarantee the best rendering result and security requirement.

MozInfo701 noticed the change in UserAgent string. In Netscape 8.0.1, the UserAgent string is now Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050519 Netscape/8.0.1 as compared to Gecko/20050512 Netscape/8.0 for Netscape 8.0. This could indicate the change of Firefox codebase with the latest Firefox 1.0.4.
